Crystal Palace are the latest side to have shown an interest in Liverpool starlet Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports from The Mirror.

The England U-21 international has been strongly linked with Swansea recently, with his chances of first-team football at Anfield likely to be slim for the foreseeable future.

However, Eagles chief Ian Holloway is keen to offer him an escape route, and is willing to pay £5million to do so.

The Bristolian is believed to have contacted the Reds to discuss a potential move as he steps up his summer plans.

Shelvey spent a brief loan stint with Blackpool under Holloway, where he impressed before being recalled by Liverpool due to injury problems.

Although Swansea would be able to offer Europa League football for next season, the 21-year-old could be more attracted to Palace, who will present him with the chance to return to his native London.

Holloway is desperate to add to his squad following promotion via the play-offs, and has a big budget to do so after selling Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United.

As a result he can easily match Liverpool’s demands for the midfielder, who has been tipped by many to have a promising career ahead of him.

Would a move to Crystal Palace make sense for Jonjo Shelvey?
