According to The Mirror's live transfer blog (June 26, 1:58pm), Crystal Palace are targeting moves for Norwich City's Max Aarons and Atalanta's Timothy Castagne as they search for a right-back replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but they may have their work cut out convincing either to make the move.

What's the word, then?

Well, The Mirror’s live transfer blog (June 26, 1:58pm) report that the duo are on the south London outfit's radar as they look to move quickly to bring in a successor to the 21-year-old youth academy graduate.

However, while money can talk when it comes to transfer fees and convincing other clubs to do business, even if the Eagles did reach that stage with either target they would face an uphill battle to get the deal over the line.

Why's that?

Firstly, Aarons has just enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough campaign at Carrow Road where he made 41 Championship appearances – scoring two goals and providing a further six assists – to help the Canaries return to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old was handed his big chance by Norwich, and if The Telegraph are to be believed it would be a challenge to prise him away right now seeing as he is established as the first-choice right-back under Daniel Farke.

The Telegraph says the teenager has asked to wear the number two shirt ahead of his debut campaign in the top flight, while it adds that he has given no indication that he wants to leave and is even open to negotiating a new contract.

That's not a good sign for Palace and neither is the fact last season's Champions League finalists Tottenham have also been linked with the Canaries youngster.

Meanwhile, Castagne has admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League one day, but Atalanta brilliantly qualifying for the Champions League next season may stop that for at least another year with talks over a new contract planned.

The Belgian's agent backed up that theory when he recently said: "I believe Castagne will be with Atalanta next season.

"The lad feels good in Bergamo and is looking forward to playing in the Champions League."
