Crystal Palace ready move for Celtic skipper

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is eyeing a cut-price move for Celtic and Scotland captain Scott Brown, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Eagles chief is understood to have had scouts north of the border already this season to watch the Hoops skipper, who he sees as the ideal addition to his side to boost their survival hopes.

Celtic are desperate to keep Brown, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, cashing in when the transfer window re-opens makes sense.

The 29-year-old has been a key player for the Bhoys in recent season, yet the lure of moving to the Premier League may be too great, given that he’s now close to the back end of his career.

Warnock is confident that Brown could give his midfield a major injection of energy and tenacity, which may be needed to avoid the drop.

The enforcer has 40 Scotland caps to his name and currently captains the side.
