Crystal Palace should sign Birmingham City hotshot Che Adams to solve their striking crisis, and in doing so boost their bid for Premier League survival with the introduction of a hungry player who may have outgrown the Championship.

What's the word, then?

The Eagles are yet to see a recognised striker score a Premier League goal for them since April, when Christian Benteke converted via the penalty spot against Leicester - notably, he wasn't even first-choice taker, but was handed the ball by Luka Milivojevic out of sympathy. It's that bad.

Alexander Sorloth, Jordan Ayew and Connor Wickham are all unreliable options, with the latter only just returning to action after two years out injured. The rest of Roy Hodgson's team is fairly solid, so the difference between survival and relegation may well come down to whether or not the south Londoners can find a prolific striker.

What would Adams bring to Palace?

The 22-year-old has scored nine goals and created a further three for his teammates so far this season as the Midlands-based side sit in ninth place in the table, just six points off the play-off places.

As a result of that, they will most certainly not want to lose the Englishman who is expected to play a starring role in their unlikely push for promotion. However, if the Premier League comes calling, the England Under-20 international could easily have his head turned.

The former Sheffield United striker, on paper at least, appears to be a perfect fit for the Eagles. He is still slightly raw in his decision making, but there is a player there who it feels as if the Selhurst Park faithful would warm to quickly.

Adams is noticeably fast, particularly strong in holding defenders off with his upper body strength, and does seem to always be looking to make something happen in front of goal. His key trait is arguably his long-range shooting ability, whilst he can also be an effective player just behind the striker in a number 10 role.
