Crystal Palace to fight off Aston Villa interest in ace

Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace)Crystal Palace will re-open contract negotiations with midfielder Mile Jedinak in a bid to keep interest from Aston Villa at bay.

The Eagles’ captain knocked back the offer of a new deal at Selhurst Park recently, which has plunged his long-term future into doubt with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has been, arguably, the Londoners’ top performer since their return to the top flight, which has seen interest in his signature increase.

Aston Villa are thought to be very keen, while Fulham and Stoke are also monitoring the Australian international’s situation.

Palace chief Ian Holloway is desperate to tie Jedinak down to a new contract, and says that a new offer is imminent.

“The chairman and I are going to talk about the future plans,” Holloway told The Mirror.

“That will be our next job as we don’t want someone walking out for nothing.”

Both goalkeeper Julian Speroni and midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi may also be offered new deals, with their current contracts also running down.

Should Jedinak refuse to pen a new deal, he would be free to leave the club at the end of the season.

Should Mile Jedinak stay at Crystal Palace? Or should he keep his options open for now?
