As we enter the January transfer window, Crystal Palace's priority should be clear - the full-back positions.

The south Londoners have just one senior left-back in Patrick van Aanholt - Jairo Riedewald, who is not a natural left-back as Roy Hodgson apologised for using him in that position against Colchester, has been covering for the Dutchman while he's been injured.

On the other side of the backline, the Eagles also have just one senior right-back in Joel Ward after failing to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka back in the summer - Martin Kelly, who is better suited to centre-back, has been filling in for the former Portsmouth man while he too has been injured.

Palace are at least reportedly looking to sign a right-back in Jayden Bogle this month, and speaking of Wan-Bissaka, the Derby youngster has a trait that the Manchester United man never displayed for the Eagles.

Can contribute in the final third

Just by looking at 19-year-old Bogle's statistics from the previous campaign and the current season, one thing is clear - he can make a significant impact in the attacking end of the field.

The teenager racked up an impressive nine assists and two goals from right-back last season as Derby reached the playoff final, and he has continued that attacking involvement with three Championship assists this term.

Derby's No.37 is a tidy dribbler with quick feet, and his crossing ability is a key part of his game.

Something that Wan-Bissaka could never do for Palace

While Wan-Bissaka was brilliant for the Eagles and won the club's Player of the Season award last term, he could never make an impact in the final third like Bogle can.

The 22-year-old - notably three years older than Bogle - has only ever recorded four assists in his senior career, which is eight less than the Derby prospect has tallied up.

The Manchester United man is of course a fantastic defender, making 4.3 successful tackles per game in the Premier League this season ahead of the New Year's Day clash with Arsenal.

But if Palace do land Bogle this month, they will have a player who can do something that Wan-Bissaka never could for them.
