The Athletic's Crystal Palace correspondent Matt Woosnam has provided a positive update on the club's academy plans.

The Evening Standard revealed on Tuesday that Bromley Council had asked the Eagles to submit further details regarding their plans to build a new £20m academy site, before a final decision is made on the project.

Steve Parish has outlined a three-year plan for the club with development of youth players at the heart of it, so more stars of similar vein to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha can be produced by the south Londoners.

However, The Evening Standard's report suggested that there was still some way to go before the green light is given.

Although, after Woosnam tweeted about the story, things are looking positive.

What did he say?

Woosnam wrote: "Suspect the detail Bromley Council have asked for re #CPFC academy training ground redevelopment is related to the indoor dome and the drainage/water tanks. Those issues were the only significant concerns residents had. Would be surprised if planning isn't eventually granted."

Appears to be good news

Woosnam's revelation that he would be surprised if planning isn't granted to Crystal Palace at some point feels like positive news.

It makes the project feel like a matter of when, not if, and comes as welcome news given the stalling of the club's plans to build a new Main Stand at Selhurst Park.

Woosnam also revealed in the comments thread of his original tweet that an issue over land with Sainsbury's - who have a shop attached to the stadium - still remains, proving to be a sticking point in the project which was supposed to be well underway.

Crystal Palace's official website wrote than construction was set to begin at the end of the 2018/19 campaign, which was over six months ago with no work taking place as of yet.

However, Woosnam's news on the academy site looks to be a little more promising than the stadium plans.
