The Athletic's Dominic Fifield has delivered two nuggets of fresh information in regards to Crystal Palace's pursuit of Yannick Carrasco.

What's the word, then?

Well, Sky Sports had recently reported that the south Londoners were in talks with Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang over a loan deal for the 41-cap Belgium international.

Kaveh Solhekol detailed that the former Atletico Madrid forward wants to leave the club, and is currently training in Belgium although no agreement had taken place between Dalian Yifang and Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old has been in inspired form of late, banging in 17 goals and registering a further seven assists in 25 league outings for the Chinese side.

Incidentally, Roy Hodgson could do with the former Monaco man's goals at Selhurst Park, as his Crystal Palace side are currently the Premier League's second-lowest scorers with 22 strikes in 24 outings - only Watford have a worse record.

What has Fifield said?

In response to two supporters' questions on Twitter, The Athletic journalist managed to shed some light on the latest happenings between the Eagles and Dalian Yifang.

Firstly, a supporter simply asked: "Dom, is this still on?" To which Fifield replied:

While that would've presumably been enough to get Palace supporters interested, another fan asked what the specific details behind the term 'complicated negotiations' actually meant - Fifield wasted no time in clearing the confusion up with a second nugget of information.

He wrote:

Seeing as Solhekol first broke the story on January 23rd, this update from Fifield is a timely one and has ensured that supporters who are keeping a very close eye on this deal are kept firmly in the loop.

For away day veterans only: Can you name all of these defunct stadiums?

With just a few days until the deadline, this transfer certainly looks like one to keep an eye on.

In other news, Crystal Palace's stance on this player's future is a logical one...
