Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after the agent of academy star Kevin Gonzalez - Joao Santos - revealed that he believes his client will sign a professional contract with the Eagles.

Gonzalez - who was named Palace Academy Player of the Year in 2017 - has been compared to Brazil international and former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho by Santos, who also stated that the south Londoners are "focusing" on his client for the future.

Santos told Tutto Mercato Web: “The Crystal Palace is focusing on him for the future. He’s a Coutinho guy. I believe he will sign a professional contract with the English club. He is a very talented player with an important future.”

The agent said nothing more to the Italian news outlet about the youngster, although The Evening Standard also reported the quotes while adding their own nuggets of information.

They reveal that Gonzalez is yet to have signed a professional contract with Crystal Palace, although the teenager is 'set to commit his long-term future' to the club in what should be encouraging news for the Eagles, given how highly-rated he is.

Gonzalez is eligible to play for both England and Colombia, and looks to be a promising prospect if his agent's comments are anything to go by.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace fans reacted to Santos' comments...

To kick off the reaction, these two supporters both believe that Roy Hodgson could potentially be a hindrance in Gonzalez's development.

Luke said that the club needs "a different manager who actually starts youngsters first" - last time out against Sheffield United, the 72-year-old fielded Crystal Palace's oldest ever Premier League starting XI at an average age of 30 years and 94 days.

@ZacCPFC then said that he "can't wait for" Gonzalez to be wasted out wide if Hodgson is still in charge when he breaks into the first-team.

Elsewhere, these two supporters expressed pessimism over Gonzalez's chances of flourishing at Selhurst Park.

Steve Richardson said that the midfielder will "be off like Hungbo in the summer" - referencing Crystal Palace's decision to part ways with Joseph Hungbo, who joined Watford and has since impressed with 12 goals from the wing in the first-half of the 2019/20 campaign for the U23's.

Bobby Lock then brought another former academy star into the conversation, saying how he "can't wait" to see Gonzalez break into the first-team before being sold, just like James Daly - the striker recently left to join Bristol Rovers after five-and-a-half years at the club.

Lastly, these two fans were sceptical over Santos' comments and felt that a bit of bias may be present.
