Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Evening Standard reported that the Eagles believe they have convinced Roy Hodgson to stay at Selhurst Park.

The former England manager has been seeking assurances from the Crystal Palace board that money would be spent on bolstering his squad, before he puts pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.

Hodgson's current terms with the south Londoners expire at the end of the season, but after he was granted Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton and nothing more in the January transfer window, the 72-year-old was believed to have entered February in an 'unhappy' mood according to The Evening Standard.

The Eagles are desperately in need of freshening up.

Last time out against Sheffield United, Hodgson named Crystal Palace's oldest-ever Premier League starting XI at an average age of 30 years and 94 days, while the club have only been able to name 22 players in their updated 25-man squad.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to The Evening Standard's report...

To kick off the reaction, Daniel said "yikes" before stating that he reckons "a lot of people won't renew season tickets now".

To show the other side of that statement, Domenico proved Daniel's point by tagging Steve Parish's Twitter account and saying that he won't be renewing his season ticket for next term if this news is true.

Elsewhere, Jamie Muller said that another year of the former Liverpool manager is "not an exciting prospect".

Meanwhile, these two supporters expressed their respect for Hodgson, but conceded that it is time for the experienced boss to move on.

To further reinforce Daniel's previous point, Jack Sullivan said that he would actually reconsider renewing his season ticket if he has to watch "the same boring football again".

'General Tomkins' then added that Hodgson has done what he was supposed to do, but it's time for a change.

Lastly, Kev expressed doubt over the credibility of The Evening Standard's report.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

He simply said "I don't believe this" - we can only wait and find out if it was true or not.

In other news, Hodgson shouldn't have done this one harsh, cruel and unjust thing recently...
