Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Glen Johnson aimed criticism at his former manager Roy Hodgson while speaking on talkSPORT, taking a dig at the 72-year-old’s tactics while in charge of the Merseysiders.
"We had a similar scenario at Liverpool." 🔴
"Hodgson would install fear into us before the game." 😫
— talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) January 23, 2020
Johnson effectively said that the 72-year-old used to “instil fear into us” before games at Anfield, in which the former Inter Milan and England boss would set up to not lose the game rather than go out and win it according to the former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back.
Looking at the statistics, Johnson has a point.
Hodgson’s Palace side scored just 19 goals at Selhurst Park in the 2018/19 campaign, with five of those coming in the 5-3 win over Bournemouth on the final day – the Eagles were also the only side to win more of their points away from home than they did on their own turf.
Last time out against Southampton, Palace didn’t even have a single shot on target, which tells you everything you need to know.
Let’s see what the Palace fans on Twitter have said about Johnson’s comments…
