According to the Daily Mirror, Crystal Palace are hot on the heels of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere

What's the Story?

Jack Wilshere has been offered a new £110,000-per-week contract with the Gunners, but having been told by Unai Emery that he is not guaranteed a starting place, the midfielder is considering his options.

The move would mean Wilshere linking back up with his former England manager, and a much needed guaranteed starting place, for a player struggling for games in recent seasons.

Palace would have to fight off the interest of newly promoted Wolves, as well as Everton and West Ham, to keep Wilshere playing his football in London.

Would signing Wilshere be a signal of intent for Palace?

With Cabaye rumoured to be moving on from the club, Palace are certainly in need of a player in the middle of the park with technical ability, and a good passing range, to partner Serbian Luka Milivojevic.

If Palace are to improve on an 11th placed finish last season, a player of Wilshere's quality will be sure to excite the Selhurst Park faithful. Whilst he has struggled for games in an injury struck career, Wilshere has managed over twenty league appearances in his last two seasons, showing signs his injury woes are behind him.

Palace will also be hoping to improve the supply to goal-shy target man Christian Benteke, who scored just three league goals last season. Wilshere is surely the man with the capability to give the Belgian better service.

A cross city switch would be a mutually beneficial venture for both Wilshere and Crystal Palace. Wilshere, in need of game time and looking to work his way back into the England set up, and Palace in need of a player who possesses the ability to take them to the next level, particularly considering the possible departure of Yohan Cabaye.
