Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Football Insider revealed that the Eagles are closing in on the signing of Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis.

Football Insider believe that the 22-year-old is open to leaving Carrow Road after losing his place to Sam Byram, and that talks between the south Londoners and the Canaries are at an advanced stage.

The report also states that Roy Hodgson has made signing a new left-back one of his top priorities before the deadline on Friday - the former England manager has just one natural player to play at that position in Patrick van Aanholt.

Lewis has made 15 Premier League appearances under Daniel Farke this term, and would provide Palace with a fresh option on the left side of defence seeing as Van Aanholt is 29 years of age.

Speaking of the Dutchman, he could yet leave Selhurst Park this month as his former club PSV Eindhoven submitted a £4.2m bid for his services - Sky Sports believe that the offer will be rejected, however.

Let's see what the Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about the Lewis news...

To kick off the reaction, Cal said that Lewis and Nathan Ferguson arriving in SE25 would make "this window a 7/10" before adding that it'd be "fantastic" if both players signed - Ferguson, a West Brom full-back, has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park with a £4m bid said to be in the offing (The Sun on Sunday, 26/01, page 61).

Elsewhere, these three fans all had Van Aanholt on mind after hearing the news.

RedNBlue wondered how much the former Chelsea and Sunderland left-back will be going for after hearing of the Lewis news, which is slightly jumping the gun a bit in our view.

Jordan simply asked if the Dutchman was on the way out as a result of the talks with Norwich, while @MarcWilliams22 said that he would take the Canaries No.12 "in a heartbeat" - especially if Van Aanholt was sold to make way for him.

Meanwhile, Will mentioned that Lewis was "so good against us this year until he got injured" - they must be referring to Palace's 2-0 win over Norwich at Selhurst Park, as the 22-year-old didn't feature in the game at Carrow Road.

Lastly, @ChrissyPalace simply said that this update from Football Insider was "interesting".

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?
