Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Daily Mail reported that the Eagles have joined the list of clubs to have checked on Nemanja Nikolic.

The striker is currently a free agent after leaving Chicago Fire, where he amassed an excellent goal record of 56 strikes in 104 appearances.

Additionally, the 32-year-old's impressive goalscoring exploits don't end there, as Nikolic has netted a huge 250 goals in 430 career outings, including 108 goals for Hungarian outfit MOL Fehérvár FC.

The Daily Mail add that Greek side Olympiakos and Turkish club Besiktas have both discussed offering him a contract, although the man himself is keen to taste English football and test his ability on these shores.

An advantage of signing Nikolic would be that Crystal Palace are in no rush to complete a deal before the deadline on 31st January, as free agents are allowed to sign outside of the window.

Roy Hodgson could do with some added firepower, seeing as his side have scored the second-fewest amount of goals in the Premier League with 22 strikes in 23 games before Tuesday's meeting with Southampton.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news...

To kick off the reaction, these two supporters mentioned that it would be a typical move from the Eagles.

Robbie said that it would be "such a Palace signing" before going as far as calling it "Adebayor-esque" in reference to when the south Londoners signed the former Arsenal and Real Madrid man on a free transfer.

Poltak added that this is "more our cuppa tea" as Nikolic would be cheap and doesn't have many more games left, given his age.

Also, 'Moody Ratel' also said that it "sounds like a Palace signing" - safe to say these three fans are all on the same page.

Elsewhere, Tom and Stuart sarcastically said "fantastic" and "yay" when hearing of the interest in Nikolic - signing such an experienced player wouldn't help the Eagles reduce their average squad age, which is amongst the oldest in the Premier League with only four players under the age of 27.

Lastly, Max begged Steve Parish not to do this deal by tagging him in the tweet, before saying "please don't do this".
