Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Zestadionu reported that the south Londoners are 'very close' to signing Nemanja Nikolic.

The 32-year-old striker is currently a free agent after leaving Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire, a club who he netted 56 goals in 104 appearances for - a fine strike rate.

Speaking of excellent strike rates, Nikolic has consistently found the back of the net throughout his career, notching 250 goals in 430 outings.

Roy Hodgson's side could do with his services, as they have scored the second-fewest amount of goals in the Premier League this term having netted just 22 times in 24 games - only Watford have scored less.

The south Londoners have only made one significant signing this month after Cenk Tosun arrived on loan from Everton, while 18-year-old Scott Banks also joined from Dundee United.

The Daily Mail also recently reported that Crystal Palace were among the clubs to have 'checked' on Nikolic, so there may be some legs on this transfer rumour.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace supporters reacted on Twitter...

To kick off the reaction, these three supporters expressed their unhappiness with the Nikolic news by taking aim at the club.

Adam and 'ZacCPFC' both suggested that they won't be going to any more matches this season after hearing the update, with Adam saying that he's "very close to snapping" his season ticket, while Zac said that, if this news is true, he won't be going to any more games as it's "just a waste of time".

Luke also added that he hates this club after hearing that the 27-cap Hungary international is close to signing.

Elsewhere, "pointless" and "embarrassing" were the adjectives of the day here from 'J' and Kev, further contributing to the dissatisfied feeling surrounding this piece of transfer news.

Lastly, HLTCO referred to a nugget of information from their own podcast, in which Dominic Fifield stated that there is an 'acceptance' from within the club that the average age of the squad needs to be lowered.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

Surely, signing a 32-year-old surely wouldn't go a long way to achieving that.
