Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Guardian's Ed Aarons reported that the south Londoners are interested in signing Genk striker Mbwana Samatta, who is also being chased by Premier League duo Norwich and Brighton as well as Eintracht Frankfurt and Lazio.

The Tanzania striker is a prolific frontman who has been no stranger to finding the back of the net over the years.

Last season, the 27-year-old bagged an impressive 32 goals in all competitions, while he has already netted ten in the current campaign including a goal at Anfield against European champions Liverpool.

Samatta is valued at 'about £9m' by Genk according to Aarons, which seems extremely cheap for someone as prolific in front of goal as the Tanzanian.

Roy Hodgson's side are in desperate need of a goalscorer given their woes in front of goal this season, as the south Londoners have found the net just 19 times in 21 Premier League games - only Watford have scored fewer goals.

Let's see how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news...

Firstly, these two fans both want Samatta to be signed purely for the opportunity to bellow a new, creative chant from the Selhurst Park stands - the latter supporter Sean even referenced The Lion King!

Elsewhere, this supporter opted not to discuss which chant could be sung for Samatta, but instead felt that the Eagles have "no chance" of signing the Genk star.

Furthermore, this fan shared their opinion that Samatta is "quite clinical", which goes without saying given his tally of 42 goals over the last season-and-a-half.

Meanwhile, this supporter said "no" to a move for the Tanzania international, before saying that "we want batsman" instead - seemingly referring to Chelsea striker and Palace target Michy Batshuayi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park.

Lastly, this fan was feeling pessimistic over the news that Palace are interested in Samatta along with Brighton, Norwich, Lazio and Eintracht Frankfurt, saying that the Eagles are "more making up the numbers than competing".

In other news, it would be bad news for Christian Benteke if Palace land this transfer target...
