According to the Express, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could exit Stamford Bridge this summer in search of regular football. Crystal Palace, for whom Loftus-Cheek impressed at on loan last season, are interested in bringing the player in on a permanent deal.

What's the Story?

Loftus-Cheek is reportedly unsettled at Chelsea, and has conceded he might have to move in order to get regular game time. The midfielder impressed so much at the Eagles last season that he was included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Russia World Cup.

If Loftus-Cheek does move on from Stamford Bridge this summer, Palace will have a battle on their hands to secure the rising England star. Interest from Borussia Dortmund is reported, with Newcastle and Tottenham also in the mix for his signature.

Chelsea and Loftus-Cheek are in seeming agreement that if the midfielder is to move on it will be as a permanent transfer, rather than another loan move. The £25million price tag represents good value for a young English midfielder with bags of potential.

Could Palace lure him back to Selhurst Park?

A powerful midfielder, who drives forward with the ball, the Lewisham-born South Londoner was a firm favourite with the Palace support last season. An exciting player to watch, his ability to beat players and dribble is compounded by his ability to play a deadly through-ball. There is no question Loftus-Cheek has a bright future ahead of him, the question is whether Palace could lure the player to develop his career at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea have put a £25m price tag on the energetic midfielder, which Palace should be able to meet. However, with interest from giants such as Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, it may be hard for the Eagles to persuade Loftus-Cheek to remain in South London on a permanent deal.

If they could lure 'RLC' however, this would be a major coup for the Eagles, and a major sign of intent to the rest of the Premier League. With Yohan Cabaye potentially heading out of the Selhurst Park exit door due to his contract situation, the energy, drive and technical ability of Loftus-Cheek would be very welcome back at Selhurst Park in a bid to fill the Frenchman's void.
