Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Fotospor revealed that Monaco have made a 'shock' €15m (£12.7m) offer to Trabzonspor for Alexander Sorloth's services.

The report states that the 2017 Ligue 1 champions have been watching the 22-cap Norway international for a while, while it is also mentioned that Trabzonspor plan to write a €48m (£40.7m) release clause into the striker's contract when his current loan deal becomes permanent.

How can Monaco make an offer to Trabzonspor for a Crystal Palace player, I hear you ask?

Well, when agreeing to loan the former Groningen forward to the Turkish Super Lig side, Crystal Palace also shook hands on a €6m (£5.1m) obligation for Trabzonspor to buy Sorloth in January 2021 - the 24-year-old initially moved to Turkey on a two-year loan deal.

"Palace negotiated a 24-month loan, with associated fees, and a purchase obligation set at €6 million in January 2021, by which time Trabzonspor, already cleared to compete in the Europa League, expect to have restructured their debt, implemented new financial monitoring regulations and met UEFA’s targets."

He has since shone with 21 goals and five assists in 31 outings this season, and it looks as if the Eagles will be made to regret their decision to allow Trabzonspor to have Sorloth for only £5.1m.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news...

To kick off the reaction, HLTCO said that the south London-based club "find ever more interesting ways of damaging" their soul after hearing of Monaco's interest in Sorloth.

Phil then asked "how dumb to you have to be" when complaining about the club's decision to include the obligation to buy on a young, unproven player.

Then, another fan replied to HLTCO when tweeting "and Parish is supposed to know what he's doing" - a dig has been aimed at the club chairman, it seems.

Elsewhere, Sam Waters claimed that "Hodgson has blood on his hands" - that may be a bit strong, although whoever sanctioned this deal has clearly made an error of judgement.

Lastly, Carl and Michael also shared their views on Fotospor's report.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

Carl asked "who knows if it is true" but added that, if it is indeed accurate, then "it's peak Palace".

Michael then laughed about the news while saying that "this is as Palace as you can get" - it appears to be a real slip-up from the Eagles.
