Phil Kirkbride of The Liverpool Echo has revealed just how much Everton want for Cenk Tosun.

The Turkey international is currently on loan at Crystal Palace until the end of the season, where he has already netted a goal against reigning champions Manchester City.

Tosun arrived at Goodison Park in January 2018 after the Toffees spent £27m to bring him to Merseyside from Besiktas, although he never really got any consistency under his belt - the 28-year-old netted just ten goals in 51 appearances for the club.

If the south Londoners want to sign him permanently this summer though, Kirkbride has revealed just how much Everton would like to receive for the forward.

What did he say?

While partaking in a Q&A on Friday afternoon, Kirkbride wrote: "Players surplus to requirements are a) harder to shift permanently and b) don’t command major fees. Everton would like £20m for Tosun but they could struggle to get that much for him, for example."

Crystal Palace shouldn't even consider that

Even if Tosun has a successful second half of the season at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace should steer clear of that figure if the Toffees truly do want £20m, or a sum in that region.

At 28 years of age, the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker is hardly a youngster and with there being an 'acceptance' at Crystal Palace - as revealed by Dominic Fifield on the HLTCO podcast - that the average age of the squad needs to be lowered, a permanent deal shouldn't even be considered.

Not including Brandon Pierrick, the Eagles have just two players currently at the club who are below the age of 27 - Max Meyer and Jairo Riedewald - while they named their oldest-ever Premier League starting XI last time out, coincidentally against Everton.

Calling Premier League experts ONLY: Which year were these top flight clubs formed?

No matter how well Tosun does, the south Londoners seriously need to start freshening up their creaking squad.
