According to a report from The Sutton and Croydon Guardian, Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace have their eye on a double swoop for Brentford's Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins this summer.

What's the word, then?

The Bees are willing to listen to offers of £30m for the pair who have also attracted interest from various different club and due to their business model will not overly try to keep them, per the original source.

Maupay is an out-and-out striker and former French youth international with a track record of scoring goals, goals and more goals wherever he's been - Brentford picked up the 22-year-old from Saint-Etienne in 2017.

Meanwhile, Watkins is a slightly more dynamic player whose been tried out in pretty much every position across the attack at Griffin Park, a right winger by nature, the 23-year-old is most comfortable on the left of a front three or just behind the main striker. He arrived from Exeter City in the same year.

How Maupay and Watkins would revolutionalise the way Palace play

The signings of Maupay and Watkins in the summer 2019 transfer window would revolutionise the way Palace play and completely change their attack from rather baron to an absolute goal-making machine.

How Hodgson's team currently operate is with a target man and the two wingers they rely way too much on for their goals, Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend.

This is both the fault of the system, which lacks in any kind of central attacking midfielder or number ten, and the fault of the personnel involved, namely the striker who is often someone of the Christian Benteke or Connor Wickham ilk - simply not good enough at scoring for it to work.

This is how Crystal Palace should line up if they sign Maupay and Watkins.

As you can see above, the double signing should see the Eagles switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation eliminating the need for a useless target man.

There's some exciting changes happening at Crystal Palace next summer. Find out what in the video below...

With Watkins' ability to both create and score in a support role (ten goals and eight assists in the Sky Bet Championship last season) and Maupay's born nack of finding the back of the net (25 league strikes in 2018/2019), Palace wouldn't be able to go wrong in terms of scoring goals in 2019/2020.
