Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports revealed that PSV Eindhoven have made a €5m (£4.2m) bid for Patrick van Aanholt’s services.
The Eredivisie outfit are interested in re-signing their former full-back, who departed them to join Chelsea in 2007.
Sky Sports believe that the offer will be rejected, and is a figure that is substantially lower than the price Crystal Palace paid for the Dutchman when signing him from Sunderland in January 2017 – the fee was said to be in the region of £14m.
The 29-year-old has scored twice in 17 Premier League appearances so far this season, and in our view, it seems unlikely that the Eagles will let him leave without signing a replacement first – the 9-cap Netherlands international is Roy Hodgson’s only natural left-back, while Jairo Riedewald and Jeffrey Schlupp can cover there if need be.
Let’s see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to this news…
€5 million!?!?!? Have they forgot that he is a Dutch international and not noticed that we don’t have any left backs?
— Bob Hallawell (@VolcanoDancer) January 26, 2020
To kick off the reaction, Bob expressed his shock at how low PSV’s offer was, asking if the Dutch outfit had “forgot” that Van Aanholt is an international footballer while also reiterating our aforementioned point that Hodgson doesn’t have any other left-backs.
Wow that’s just disgraceful

Chuck in a 5 million bid for Bergwijn while we’re at it

Elsewhere, another fan named Doug said “wow” before branding PSV’s offer as “disgraceful”.
Also, a supporter with the username @ClassyPalace said “chuck in a £5m bid for Bergwijn while we’re at it” – the humour behind this tweet is that the PSV No.10, who could join Tottenham after a £25.3m bid was submitted, is worth way more than £5m.
Surely his worth minimum what we paid in this inflated market https://t.co/AEM5m2avtF

add a 2 in front of the 5 and then they could have him https://t.co/QAAp0b1DYx
— Guy (@_GuyCPFC) January 26, 2020
Meanwhile, Daniel and Guy also reacted to this news.
Daniel said that, in “this inflated market”, Van Aanholt is “surely” worth what the Eagles paid for him back in 2017.
Guy added that PSV can have the left-back if they add a two in front of their €5m offer.

Lastly, Kev simply said “blimey” after hearing what PSV offered for the Palace No.3 – safe to say this fan isn’t too impressed.
