Crystal Palace supremo Steve Parish has given an interview to Palace TV following the January transfer window.

The club chairman discusses a variety of hot topics, including the stagnated redevelopment of the Main Stand at Selhurst Park, as well as his plans to build a new academy site.

Parish also discusses the winter transfer window, in which the Eagles saw moves for Nathan Ferguson and Christian Kouame fall through after the pair of them picked up injuries.

He is also asked how the club used the £50m generated from selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United.

What did he say?

Parish told Palace TV: "We'd borrowed some money previous to that, for some of the other transfer business that we've done. We very rarely sell players, we've kept our talent here to try and improve the quality of the squad. When we sold Aaron we used it to pay down some debt."

Refreshing to hear

Since the England U21 right-back was shipped off to Old Trafford, the south Londoners have barely spent a penny.

Naturally, supporters can point to Wan-Bissaka's exit and ask where that money has gone and why hasn't it been put towards new players, a question which can very often go unanswered and dissolve into the abyss.

However, it was bold of Chris Grierson to ask Parish that question, and it was also refreshing to see the Eagles supremo give a straightforward answer rather than attempt to spin the topic to make himself look better.

It's good to see Parish simply say that it was used to pay down some debt - something that is understandable given Palace's expensive exploits in the past, such as signing Christian Benteke for £27m and Mamadou Sakho for £26m.
