Crystal Palace's good form on their travels this season continued with a 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James' Park on Saturday, with a goal from Luka Milivojevic and another solid defensive display from Aaron Wan-Bissaka earning both Eagles stars a place in Garth Crooks' team of the week.

The latter's consistent, swashbuckling showings at the back have caught the eye of a number of top clubs this campaign, who potentially see him as the man to hold down the right-back role for the next decade.

At just 21, the number 29 has huge scope for improvement but is already frighteningly good - in fact, his tackling numbers are up there with the best in Europe - and BBC pundit Crooks is tipping the young talent to beat the likes of Leroy Sane, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling to the PFA Young Player of the Year Award:

"You can't go to St James' Park, win 1-0, keep a clean sheet and not have at least one of your defenders in my team of the week.

"I thought about James Tomkins, who has been consistent for Crystal Palace this season, often in very difficult circumstances. However, I've gone for my young player of the season, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

"He was superb yet again against Newcastle. This fabulous talent has not looked back since his Premier League debut at Fulham at the start of the season. This kid is a must for Manchester United."

While that last sentence may leave a sour taste for the Selhurst Park faithful who are surely fearful that the Londoner could depart in the summer, Crooks' comments should make for pleasant reading.

Words such as 'fabulous' and 'superb' don't get thrown around all that often when youngsters are concerned but for Wan-Bissaka that kind of praise has become customary, such is the standard he has set week after week this term.

The aforementioned expected nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year Award have all had sensational seasons and some have done it at the top clubs but, as long as Wan-Bissaka continues to produce performances of this calibre, then his name must be in the conversation.
