If you ask any non-Palace fan, they will tell you that Wilfried Zaha is the Eagles’ best player by a mile and that nobody comes close to usurping the Ivorian, although the theme arising from the monthly player awards perhaps indicates that Palace fans themselves don’t all feel that way.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been incredible this campaign, picked up the player of the month award for March – his fourth of the season – while Andros Townsend (2) and Jeffrey Schlupp have won previously. Even Wayne Hennessey has got one to his name!
There is no sight of Zaha, even though the former Manchester United man has been on fire in 2019; taking his tallies for the season to seven goals and eight assists. The aforementioned winners are worthy, but it seems that Zaha’s excellent output is almost expected of him and so he doesn’t receive the recognition he deserves in award-form.

Indeed, Wan-Bissaka seems to get better week after week and Zaha surely cannot do much more to surpass the number 29 in the estimations of Palace fans when the club counts the votes at the end of each month. Will Zaha win a player of the month award this season? At this rate, it looks unlikely unless he does something truly special.
