A win away at the Etihad Stadium, against the Premier League champions, can do a lot for self belief and happiness around a football club – as I’m sure you can imagine.
Arsenal rocked up in Manchester on Sunday, grabbed a well deserved three points, kept a clean sheet, remained calm and disciplined and left.
Just to clarify, that is the same Arsenal that last season lost 6-0 at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea, 6-3 away at Manchester City and 5-1 to Liverpool. That is also the same Arsene Wenger side that threw away a 3-0 lead in the Champions League against underdogs Anderlecht during this campaign.
The 90 minutes the Gunners turned in against Manuel Pellegrini’s side was so uncharacteristically Arsenal it left a lot of us asking why they hadn’t been so disciplined and hard to break down before?
Arsenal are renowned for their attractive football and pass-and-move style of play, however, it appears that Arsene Wenger should ditch his ethos and build upon the ruthless streak shown away at the Etihad Stadium (but we all know he won’t do that).
