Dortmund chief rules-out Liverpool transfer

Liverpool have been handed a blow in their potential plans for the January transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director making it clear the club have no intention to cash in on a reported Reds target.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Michael Zorc revealed the German side are ready to discuss fresh terms with American ace Christian Pulisic at any time- despite his current long-term deal running all the way through to 2019.

“There have been some offers for him in the summer window from England and from German clubs. But we would like to have him here and develop him here. We didn’t educate him to sell him.”

“We have a long-running contract until 2019, but because of his development the club is ready to speak to him to prolong his contract at any time.”

Sports Illustrated adds that both Liverpool and Bundesliga newcomers RB Leipzig saw bids rejected by Dortmund during the summer, who are determined to keep hold of Pulisic as he is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects within world football.

Just 18-years-old, Pulisic already boasts eight appearances for the United States, having made his debut this year, and is becoming an increasingly important player for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
