Everton and Aston Villa keeping tabs on Irish ace

Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow)Everton, Aston Villa and Fulham are all keeping tabs on Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady, according to reports from Izvestia.

The Republic of Ireland international has been plying his trade in Russia since 2010, when he completed a £9.5m move from Celtic.

After impressing initially, McGeady has been consistently linked with a return to the United Kingdom, with the Premier League believed to be a tempting proposition.

Reports now suggest that Spartak are negotiating with three English sides, who are believed to be Everton, Villa and Fulham.

However, none of the trio are willing to meet the Moscow-based giants’ demands.

With the 27-year-old’s contract due to expire in 2014, none of the interested parties are willing to spend big for his signature.

McGeady was linked with a move away from Spartak over the summer, but a deal failed to materialise.

Despite not having had the most successful time in Russia, the winger has managed to notch 13 goals on 86 appearances for the club.

Everton could be the most appealing option for McGeady, with Roberto Martinez’s men having an outside chance of securing European qualification.

Villa and Fulham are also keen and could offer the wide man a greater chance of regular first-team football.

Would Aiden McGeady be a wise signing?
