Everton and Newcastle to battle for CSKA Moscow ace

Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow)Everton and Newcastle are set to go head-to-head in the race for CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia, according to reports from The Express.

The Premier League duo are believed to have sent scouts to watch the pacey Ivorian in action of late, and are thought to have been impressed with his displays

This has led to rumours that a January offer may be on the cards, with both Everton and Newcastle said to be in the market for attacking reinforcements.

The 25-year-old – who is regarded as one of the top talents in Russian football – has been the subject of much interest according to his agent, Rolan Gusev, and could be open to a winter move.

“During the time that Doumbia has spent with CSKA he has become one of the leaders of the team and has done a lot to acheive good results,” Gusev said.

“Of course a player like Doumbia could not fail to attract interest from Europe.

“When he eventually leaves the team, it will be important to find a replacement, because the team needs competition.”

Doumbia has notched an impressive 57 goals in 88 outings for CSKA since joining them in 2010.

With his current contract not set to expire until 2015, the Moscow giants are set to demand around £20m for his signature.
