The Republic of Ireland wide-man looks set to leave the Russian club in January after being transfer listed after falling out with manager Valery Karpin.
McGeady’s contract is due to expire in just over six months’ time, but it was rumoured that the 27-year-old may be made to wait until then to leave Moscow.
But, Spartak are ready to cut him loose ahead of time, alerting Villa and Everton.
The Premier League duo have been tracking McGeady for some time, and are both keen to offer him a route back to Britain.
The pair are likely to pursue a cut-price deal, but could face competition from Fulham.
McGeady rose to prominence with Celtic during the 2009/10 season, tempting Spartak to lure him to Russia in a £9.5m deal.
He has been relatively impressive since the switch, but has always been thought to be keen to a return to the UK.
Celtic have been linked with a swoop for their former star, but the lure of Premier League football could tempt McGeady to choose Everton or Villa.
