According to BBC Football, Everton have agreed a £30m deal to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer.

The 23-year-old made 29 Premier League appearances in an impressive breakthrough campaign for the Black Cats this season, but couldn’t prevent them finishing bottom of the table and being relegated to the Championship.

However, the England Under-21 international looks set for a quick return to the top flight in a deal that would be a record for a British stopper, ending Toffees boss Ronald Koeman’s search for a new number one.

The deal is like to include an initial fee which could rise to £30m with add-ons, and if it does reach that amount he would become the third most expensive keeper in world football.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, with many believing the £30m fee is a steal in the current market, while others were impressed at the club’s ambition following a number of years of ‘penny-pinching’.
