On Monday afternoon, Everton announced that they had signed Netherlands Under-18 international Nathangelo Markelo from Dutch second division outfit FC Volendam.

The defender is expected to link-up with Everton's Under-23 outfit with a view to progressing to the first team, making the teenager very much one for the future.

Football fans in general are more about the here and now, however, and Everton supporters reacted to Markelo's signing by demanding that the Toffees announce the arrival of Sandro Ramirez from La Liga side Malaga.

Sandro, 21, has reportedly already passed a medical with Everton ahead of a £5m move to Goodison Park, although there has not yet been any confirmation from the Merseyside club.

Sandro is actually currently with the Spain Under-21 squad at the Under-21 European Championships in Poland, although it does appear that the move will be confirmed before that particular tournament ends later this month.

Whilst Markelo is one for the future, Everton fans want Sandro to form part of their present.
