Everton have failed to secure a loan deal for Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, according to Sky Sports.
The England international was expected to leave the club this summer and made it clear he wanted to sign for Everton and work under Roberto Martinez.
But emerging reports are claiming a fee has not been agreed between the two sides and a deal will not be completed before the 11pm deadline, which all but confirms that Cleverley will be staying at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
That came after he turned down a contract offer from Aston Villa after the Midlands club agreed a fee with United.
The 25-year-old has been made a regular scapegoat for a string of poor Man United performances over the last twelve months, particularly last season under David Moyes.
And if a deal cannot be resurrected within the next half-an-hour then he may still have a chance to prove himself to the Red Devils faithful.
