One of the biggest stories emerging over the weekend has linked Everton with a move for Manchester United flop Memphis Depay, who has struggled to make an impact in English football since a £25m move to Old Trafford in 2015.
It all began with Ronald Koeman telling Fox Sports Netherlands he’d be interested in signing the winger, before Depay himself addressed the rumours after Holland’s 3-1 victory against Luxembourg, where he scored a brace.
The most intriguing aspect came via Everton’s official Twitter feed, who chose to give an update on Depay’s antics for Holland as they informed the club’s supporters of the performances of the Toffees players on international duty.

It adds even more speculation to rumours that Everton will swoop for the United misfit in 2017 but it’s likely the 22-year-old will be on the move, as he’s consistently been overlooked by Jose Mourinho and faces competition from the likes of Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Since arriving at United, Depay has played 33 Premier League matches but has found the net just twice- although he’s still considered to have huge potential and could become a superstar in the coming years.
