Everton transfer boost: Swansea in talks for defensive star, Sunderland also keen

Swansea City have held talks over a move for Anderlecht’s Kara Mbodji, who is also wanted by Sunderland, amid Everton’s interest in Ashley Williams, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Swans’ skipper has attracted serious attention from the Merseyside club of late, who are believed to be readying a second offer for him after an initial £10m bid was rebuffed earlier this week.

And their hopes of snapping up the Welshman have been boosted, with reports claiming that Mbodji has emerged as a like-for-like replacement.

The Senegalese defender has starred for Anderlecht in recent times, and it’s understood that talks regarding a transfer have taken place.

As well as Swansea, Sunderland are mooted suitors for the 26-year-old centre-back.

Mbodji has been capped 24 times at senior international level by Senegal, and is likely to be involved in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
