25-goal contract rebel set to complete summer transfer to Everton

According to reports from The Coventry Telegraph, Coventry City youngster Bassala Sambou is expected to complete a summer transfer to Everton.

The 18-year-old striker has made just one senior appearance for the League One outfit – an FA Cup outing in November – but remains highly-rated, notching up 25 goals at youth level this season.

He’s refused to sign professional terms with Tony Mowbray’s side, despite reportedly offering him a contract worth ‘more than the going rate’ and giving guarantees of chances to impress in the 2016/17 pre-season.

According to the regional newspaper, that’s because Sambou is planning to complete a summer transfer to Everton, giving him the chance to prove himself at a Premier League club.

Amid a disappointing season, the Toffees have plummeted all the way down to 14th place in the Premier League table.

But an FA Cup semi-final – the opponents of which will be decided in West Ham and Manchester United’s replay tomorrow night – has provided a silver lining for under-fire manager Roberto Martinez.
