As reported by The Sun, Everton are one of a number of English Premier League sides interested in signing Norwich City's James Maddison this summer.

What's the story?

After a superb season in the English Championship for the Canaries, hype is rapidly building around England U21 international James Maddison ahead of the summer transfer window and it appears he could well win his big move to the English Premier League.

To make that happen though, a club will have to spend serious money, with The Sun reporting that Norwich have slapped a £25m price tag on the midfielder.

The paper say one of the teams interested are Everton, who have shown they can spend big fees to attract notable talent over the last few transfer windows.

However, the Toffees face competition from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for his signature, according to the report.

Can they prove to Maddison that Goodison Park is the destination to build his Premier League career?

Worth all that money?

What any buying club is getting with Maddison is potential, and he's showing plenty of that at Norwich City this season.

Scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists, he's proving to be one of the most effective central attacking midfielders in the country, albeit in the second-tier.

With the transfer market ballooning in terms of fees and with Norwich in no rush to sell, they're quite entitled to demand a sizeable fee for the 21-year-old, especially with cash-rich clubs showing interest.

Everton should strongly consider paying the asking price and beating their Premier League rivals to his signature given his progress this season and may even be able to offer him regular first team football ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, aiding his development.

The Toffees need to build an ambitious, young, forward-thinking side and securing Maddison could be an important first step.
