In the January transfer window, it was revealed by Inside Futbol that Everton and West Ham had made enquiries over the availability of AZ Alkmaar star Oussama Idrissi - Serie A outfit Roma were also believed to be considering a swoop.

However, an exit from the Netherlands never materialised for the Morocco international, and he remained with AZ.

At the time, it would've seemed like a real coup from the Toffees had they managed to secure the forward.

He had notched a huge 20 goals while operating as a left-forward, and also registered three assists.

His excellent goalscoring numbers this term come after he also caught the eye in 2018/19, scoring 14 goals and amassing eight assists.

However, since January came to a close, the 24-year-old has done very little to keep Everton and Carlo Ancelotti keen.

In his four appearances throughout February, Idrissi has neither scored a goal or set one up.

He has faced FC Twente - AZ Alkmaar lost 2-0 - before also coming up against PEC Zwolle in Eredivisie action, while he also appeared against LASK on two occasions in a two-legged Europa League Round of 32 tie.

AZ Alkmaar only won one of those games - the encounter with PEC Zwolle - and Idrissi was very ineffective.

Forget the fact that he neither scored or assisted. Idrissi only had one shot on target across those four games, while also amassing just one key pass - he also had ten unsuccessful touches, and was dispossessed on eight occasions.

His form so far this season means he has earned the right to be fairly poor for AZ Alkmaar - if fans and teammates began to turn on him, that would be harsh.

However, in terms of keeping potential suitors keen on signing him as we build up to the summer, his dip since January ended is concerning and will surely also do little to ensure that the Toffees as keen as they seemingly were to sign him.
