Goals from the 22-year-old and centre-forward partner Moise Kean looked to have put the hosts on course for a relatively comfortable three points on Merseyside, before substitute Florian Lejeune found the net twice in added-on time to give Steve Bruce's team a share of the spoils.

It was Calvert-Lewin's 12th goal of what is proving to be an extremely productive campaign for the former Sheffield United man, who looks to have established himself as the club's first-choice striker due to his all-round qualities up top.

Indeed, he has also shown impressive leadership and been happy to take responsibility for what happened by coming out on Instagram at the age of 22 and apologising to supporters for the collapse they had to witness against the Magpies.
