Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has accused Everton's dressing room of being 'physically and mentally weak'.

The Toffees suffered their third defeat in their last four Premier League matches when they went down 2-1 to Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.

The Merseyside outfit have recorded eight home Premier League wins this season, but have picked up just one away victory during the 2017-18 campaign.

Head coach Sam Allardyce has come in for criticism from a number of areas in recent weeks, but Carragher has insisted that Everton's players need to take some of the flack.

Indeed, the pundit has said that Everton's squad is 'nowhere near good enough' to compete.

Carragher told Sky Sports:

"The finger of blame has to be pointed at that dressing room and the players in there because that's under four different managers.

"We'll chat about Sam Allardyce shortly but that dressing room... the quality in it is nowhere near good enough.

"But also I don't have to watch any of Everton's away games. I just look at a record like that and straight away you know they must be and they are physically and mentally weak."

Everton have collected 34 points from their 29 Premier League matches this season, with that total leaving them in 11th position in the table.

Allardyce's side are back in league action at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, and the supporters will be expecting a response.
