Cenk Tosun has returned to Everton, having picked up a knee injury on loan at Crystal Palace, as reported by BBC Sport.

The Eagles have an option to sign the 28-year-old in the summer, but it is feared that this injury will scupper any chances of that happening, while he may even miss out on Euro 2020.

This news has been rued by Everton fans, both for the Turkish striker's sake and their club's.

The suggestion has been made that this type of scenario is very typical of Everton, with one claiming "we're cursed", while another has sent their best wishes to Tosun.

Excluding the Turkey international, Everton currently have four players out injured - Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Lucas Digne, Morgan Schneiderlin and Seamus Coleman - while Andre Gomes has only been back after missing 15 matches.

Did he play for Everton? Simple question but a lot tougher than you think...

With that in mind, fans are seeing this as another indication that they are unlucky with injuries.

The report has also acted as a reminder of "the various dead weight we haven't been able to shift permanently".

Players who are mentioned by one fan include Fabian Delph, Yannick Bolasie and Cuco Martina, who they feel the Toffees should be getting rid of.

It is hoped that they will still be able to sell Tosun during the summer, despite the unfortunate injury that he has sustained.

Meanwhile, Kevin Phillips has been full of praise for one Everton man.
