Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has made a big claim about David Moyes and Everton in his latest set of Premier League predictions.

What did he say?

Well, the Toffees come up against their former manager when they face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday, and it comes just over a month after the Scot was heavily linked with a return to Goodison Park following the sacking of Marco Silva.

Indeed, we reported via The Times at the that point that the 56-year-old was 'on the brink' of being handed the job by Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright, before the club eventually appointed Carlo Ancelotti instead following his departure from Napoli.

And Nicholas clearly feels that Moyes was under the impression the job was his, as you can see by his latest comments via Sky Sports.

The Scot said: 'Carlo Ancelotti has picked up a couple of decent results but the scar and embarrassment of losing to Liverpool's schoolboys still lingers.

'He [Moyes] will want to prove a point to Everton fans and really, he believes he should be back there. It looked as though it should have been his job, but they went with the fabulous Carlo Ancelotti and he is a different man.'

Did Everton make the right choice?

You'd be hard pushed to find many who would say no.

As popular as he was and as well as David Moyes did with Everton in his previous spell, he was without a job for almost 18 months before the Irons appointed him as Manuel Pellegrini's successor last month, which is hardly a glowing endorsement of his managerial credentials.

Meanwhile, the Toffees have brought in a man renowned in both European and world football as being a top, top coach, backed up by the fact that he has won the Champions League on three occasions, as well as winning top flight titles in England, France, Germany and Italy, as per Transfermarkt.

Moyes may feel he should have got another shot at success at Goodison Park, but Farhad Moshiri and Co have made the right decision – in the short-term at least – as they look to take the club to the next level.
