Chelsea and Manchester United target John Stones, will not be going anywhere this winter as Roberto Martinez has no interest in selling his star defender.
Stones handed in a transfer request in the summer amid serious interest from a host of clubs, but Martinez has gone on record as saying that he won’t sell the England defender even if he wants to leave in January.
The Toffees chief told The Mirror: “It doesn’t matter if Chelsea come back in for him. We created a squad to see how far we could go over 10 months. January doesn’t come into consideration. We’ll never lose anyone in January — unless it’s somebody who hasn’t been playing and we need to find a solution. If he’s a top performer, it’s not even a consideration.”
Stones, according to reports, is not looking for a move away in January and is planning to stay at Everton to solidify his position in the England squad for EURO 2016.
The Toffees centre-back has impressed for the Merseysiders during the first half of this season while Chelsea’s defence has struggled. The transfer is believed to be on the Blues’ minds’ once again, while Manchester United are also thought to be keen.
Stones has drawn plaudits from some of the best in world, with Gerard Pique has recently naming the ex-Barnsley man as one of the top young players in his position.
