Reported Everton transfer target Ciro Immobile's stock continues to rise following his hat-trick in Lazio's 5-1 thrashing of Sampdoria on Saturday.

Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this month that the Toffees were knocking on the door for the centre-forward, and that any potential offer to bring him to Goodison Park would be "heavy".

The report suggested at the time that the Rome-based outfit wouldn't want to let the striker who turns 30 years of age next month go, and on his latest display you can't blame them.

The Italy international took his tally for the 2019/20 season to 26 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for his club with his treble against Sampdoria, with two of the three goals coming from the penalty spot.

Finding the net on three occasions wasn't the only thing that stood out from the striker on the day though, with plenty of his other statistics catching the eye.

For example the hat-trick came from just five shots in total and four shots on target, according to WhoScored, showing just how clinical he can be even if two came via spot-kicks.

Immobile isn't just a goalscorer though and he showed he can create too at the weekend by making three key passes, while he was accurate with all three of the long balls he attempted – the Italian also has five assists this term.

The fact he can set chances up and can dribble – he completed two in this particular clash – suggests he is very much an all-round centre-forward, topped off nicely by the fact that he also captained Lazio to the victory with usual skipper Senid Lulic absent through suspension.

As things stand the 29-year-old is spearheading his team's amazing run of form – Saturday's win was their 11th straight one in Serie A – which has left them in third and just six points adrift of Juventus at the summit.

Everton may well have Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their ranks and their top goalscorer did get his 11th of the campaign against West Ham United at the weekend, but you can't help but feel the Toffees would benefit from having a striker of Immobile's calibre up top with him.

It will be a difficult deal to pull off for the Merseyside club given the form he is in, but perhaps given he is soon to be turning 30 a big bid could be tempting for Lazio.

Whatever happens, the centre-forward continues to show why he'd be a dream signing for Carlo Ancelotti.
