Everton boss David Moyes is hoping the summer break will be enough for Nikica Jelavic to rediscover his scoring touch.

The former Rangers star could not stop scoring when he arrived at the club last season but things have been much different this term and he has looked out of sorts for months.

He was brought off with 30 minutes remaining against Fulham and has only netted once this year but Moyes is hoping a break will do him good.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "I wouldn't say it's a priority in the summer, but to have someone who can get you 15 to 20 goals would have maybe made our position even better than it is at this present moment in time.

"I said before today that with Jela it was maybe a bit of second season syndrome. Or it could just be a little bit of a loss of confidence.

"We've tried to give him a chance, we want to give him enough chances to try to score and get his form back..

"We left him out for a few weeks. But we'll persevere and hope for the day when he gets his form and his goals back.

"The summer might freshen him up."
