Everton still have just two defeats to their name under Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian joined the club last month.

Those defeats came against Liverpool and Manchester City, as well, so there is certainly an argument that the former Chelsea boss has had a positive impact on the Toffees. However, both he and the supporters are likely to be disappointed with the team's performance against West Ham.

The Goodison Park outfit were able to come away with a point from the London Stadium, but it could have easily been a defeat had Sebastien Haller not been so wasteful in front of goal - he failed to net from any of the five chances he had.

Call yourself an Everton expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

There were several displays that are unlikely to have pleased Ancelotti, and one man who certainly disappointed was Fabian Delph.

There was nothing particularly abject about the 30-year-old's display, but considering he has two Premier League titles to his name, as well as World Cup appearances, Ancelotti would surely have hoped he could have a bigger impact. He may have landed 84% of the passes he attempted, but none of those were key passes. He was also unable to fire a shot on target and only won 50% of the ground duels he contested.

The arrival of the former Leeds United man has not gone to plan. He moved to Merseyside for £10m in the summer, but he has made just 17 appearances in all competitions to date and as per Whoscored, he has a disappointing average match rating of 6.55 in the Premier League. Given his experience, that is not really good enough, and the talks he held with the club after a series of Instagram spats with fans will have done little to endear him to the Goodison Park faithful.

As big of a club as Everton are in the context of the UK, Delph has made a step down from Man City, and looks to be already winding his career down as well. That will not be enough for Ancelotti and he should be considering a replacement already.

That replacement could very well be Morgan Sanson, who has been linked with a move to the club. The 25-year-old is in good form this term. He has played 19 Ligue 1 games for Marseille, scoring three goals and providing three assists. That has helped his team climb up to second in the table, with only PSG ahead of them.

Sanson is a player who can contribute both going forward - he has 1.5 dribbles and 1.2 key passes per game in the French top flight this term - and going backwards - he has 1.9 tackles per match. Currently valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, he may not be the most expensive player in the world either.

Most importantly, though, a move to Everton and the Premier League could be seen as a step up. Whilst Marseille have a strong history, they have not had the best time of it in recent years, with PSG dominating the domestic scene. At 25, he should be hungry for success and a move to English football to test his mettle could be the perfect opportunity for him to do just that.

Ancelotti has less than two weeks to mould and re-shape his squad for the rest of the campaign. Bringing in Sanson to take Delph's place could prove to be a shrewd bit of business and rectify the club's mistake in signing the latter.

Meanwhile, this Serie A man is reportedly on Everton's radar.
