Everton fans have taken to Twitter in angered fashion after it was announced that Andre Gomes would serve a three-game ban for his studs-up challenge on Aleksandar Mitrovic, which referee Lee Probert failed to spot.
As a result of Probert not seeing the incident, it was left in the hands of the Football Association to sort out, and they have now banned the Portuguese international after he accepted a charge of violent conduct.
In this era of ‘big 6’ dominance, has finishing 7th become as good as winning a trophy? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…
The 25-year-old will miss games against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Burnley, but will be available for the final game of the season against Tottenham.
There is no denying that it was an ugly challenge from the on-loan Barcelona midfielder, but the Everton fans’ main issue with the ban is that other players have gotten away with similar incidents of late – Mohamed Salah’s awful challenge on Porto star Danilo in the Champions League being a key example.
Let’s see what the livid Toffees supporters on Twitter have been saying about the ban…
The conspiracy against Everton continues

Yet another Everton player charged by the FA whilst the top 6 break the rules week in week out without the FA batting an eye

Shame the rules don’t apply to everyone!! Bad challenge & deserved charge BUT the rules aren’t fairly applied. #corrupt

Echoing other fans comments. Shouldn’t have done it and consequences that follow. However seeing “other” players at “other” clubs getting away with like conduct and deception isn’t a fair playing field.

I agree Andre has accepted, it’s unbelievable that others haven’t been charged.
But @FA are what they are

Top six sides getting away with it again.
They have stopped trying to hide the corruption its blatantly obvious now

Can’t complain, Terrible and needless challenge by Gomes, That being said Al, Where’s the consistency?, Guendouzi went in studs first on Digne only a week ago and think it was Jorginho lunged in two footed on Gylfi earlier in the year, Nothing even brought up afterwards
