Dutch star talks up Everton move

Twente midfielder Leroy FerFC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer says that he is keen on a Premier League move, and that Everton are interested in his signature.

The Toffees reportedly agreed a deal for the 23-year-old during the January transfer window, but the proposed switch fell through due to a problem with the player’s knee.

Since then Roberto Martinez has replaced David Moyes in the Goodison Park hot seat, but the Dutch international has yet again been linked with a move to Merseyside.

Fer says that he would jump at the chance to move to England, and that Everton are firmly in he race.

“I would like to go to the Premier League this summer, it’s a very nice competition,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“I think Everton are still interested in me.

“I haven’t heard about anything but I think my manager did.”

Fer has been representing his nation at the European U-21 championships – where they were eliminated by Italy in the semi-finals – but is set to undergo talks about his future with Twente in the coming weeks.

The 6ft 2” midfielder started his career at Feyenoord before moving to The Tukkers in 2011, where he has developed into one of the country’s top talents.
