According to BBC Sportsound (via The Daily Record), an Everton scout was present at Celtic’s game against Kilmarnock and waxed lyrical about Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor to Hoops legend Packie Bonner.
“I was talking to one of the scouts from Everton who was here today. He’s talking so highly of guys like McGregor and Edouard and they are attracting the attention of big clubs.”
While McGregor has impressed this term with 11 goals and ten assists in all competitions, it is Edouard who has set Celtic Park alight with a quite phenomenal amount of goal involvements.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has netted a whopping 25 goals in all competitions, while also impressively setting up another 17 strikes for his teammates.
There is no denying that the Frenchman is a hot prospect right now, especially with bundles of time on his side at just 22 years of age.
However, Everton must resist handing Ancelotti the deadly Celtic star.
If there’s one player who deserves an enormous amount of credit for his efforts this season, it’s Dominic Calvert Lewin.
The former Sheffield United striker endured a hit-and-miss 2018/19 campaign, scoring just six Premier League goals in 35 appearances.
However, this time around, the 22-year-old has improved a tremendous amount.
Calvert-Lewin has already doubled his tally from last season with 12 Premier League goals to his name in just 25 appearances, which means he has already confirmed it as his most prolific campaign – his next most effective season came last year with six goals, as aforesaid.
Due to his fine progress at Goodison Park, the Toffees must not swoop for Edouard, but instead Ancelotti must place his faith in Calvert-Lewin, who is doing a fine job at leading the line right now.
If Everton go out and spend big on the Celtic hitman, then surely it would send out the wrong message to their existing No.9.
