According to Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton have made contact with Juventus over the availability of Moise Kean.

What's the word, then?

Well, the Toffees have contacted the Italian champions over the availability of Kean, who rose to prominence last season with some excellent - and deadly - performances for the Turin-based club.

Already a fully fledged Italy international at the age of just 19, Kean smashed in six goals in just 13 Serie A appearances last term and scored seven goals across all competitions.

The teenager is currently playing for the Italy Under-21 side at the European Championships, where he is a key cog in what is arguably the best team at the tournament - the young Azzurri also have the likes of Nicolo Barella and Nicolo Zaniolo in their ranks.

It is certainly an ambitious enquiry from the Merseysiders, but one that proves they're searching in the right areas.

Marcel Brands' vision would take a huge forward step with this signing

It'll be tough, but if Everton and their Sporting Director Marcel Brands can lure Kean to Goodison Park, it would be a huge step forward in the vision that the former PSV Eindhoven director outlined in April.

Back then, Brands said:  “The players we brought in last year were all under 25 so we don’t want to invest big money in players who are older. Everton is a club that also has to sell players so it is necessary to get younger players to invest in.

"That’s why we invested in young players last summer. [Lucas] Digne was 24, [Yerry] Mina 23, Richarlison 21; so we look to players in the age group 20-25/26.”

Brands reveals that the Toffees are looking to get players in who fall between the 20-25/26 age bracket, so getting one of the hottest 19-year-old stars in Europe would exceed that policy and give them one of the best players in terms of potential when Kean does eventually fall in that bracket.

It would be a deal that goes above and beyond the policy and would also see Brands' vision handed a jewel to put in Everton's ever improving crown - having already harvested young stars like Jordan Pickford, Lucas Digne and Richarlison, the Toffees are steadily gathering some of Europe's best performing youngsters in their age group.

Kean's arrival would arguably add the shiniest jewel to that crown yet.
