Everton ace looking to use FA Cup to boost momentum

Everton goalkeeper Tim HowardTim Howard is hoping that Everton can use their FA Cup tie with Oldham as a springboard to improve their Premier League form.

The Toffees face Oldham this weekend, knowing that a victory will put their name into the draw for the quarter-finals.

Defeat to Manchester United on Sunday capped a recent run of poor form, with the Merseysiders having taken jus six points from the last 15 on offer.

Despite this, they are still in the hunt for Champions League qualification, thanks to a solid start to the season.

Howard believes Everton’s domestic cup exploits will be the perfect remedy for their recent drop in form:

“That’s got to be our strength, continuing to get through in the Cup, because as we know over the last few years when we’ve had good cup runs, that can make us feel good.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“Even on the back of a loss, if we go to Oldham and get a result to go through in the Cup, it makes us feel better going into the next league match against Norwich.

“They kind of play off each other, and that’s why the most important thing on our radar is the Oldham game.”

Everton were close to securing a spot in last year’s FA Cup final, but suffered defeat at the semi-final stage to local rivals Liverpool.

With a number of big sides having already been illuminated already, David Moyes’ men will be confident that going one better this season is a possibility.
